Of Crisis
Crisis according to the dictionary is an emotionally charged
event; a changing point. When was your
last crisis? When have you experienced
something that caused you to think about things...your life? God doesn’t always work by using
crisis. He uses other methods as
well. A crisis is not a bounced check
or a fender bender. It is an illness a
loss through death, a divorce or loss of a job. It is something that makes you stop to evaluate your position and
direction. A crisis brings about
change.
Gen. 27 is the story of Jacob. Jacob had a wrong way of going about things. First thing he did was leave. Secondly, he married the wrong woman. Then he flees, taking his family and herds
with him. Laban followed. Soon he found himself at the point of
crisis. Laban is behind And his
brother, Esau is ahead. What is he to
do? This is the crisis of his life? He wrestles with an unknown assailant for
hours. He realizes he has been
wrestling with the Lord. He throws
himself on God and says, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me”
Crisis means God is leading and directing my life.
Abraham had to leave his home in Ur because God asked him to
. That in itself is life-changing. A son is promised and born in his old
age, He will be the father of many
generations through this son.
One day, God tells him to take his son, his only son, Isaac
and offer him on the Mount. Abraham had many crisis, but this was the crisis of
his life. Why? God wanted Abraham to see what He would
see. Feel what He would feel. God, the Father sacrificed his only
son.
Have we had to flee?
Move away from family? Suffered
injury? Had disappointments? It hurts.
God can use all these things for good.
Rev. 3. As many as I
love I rebuke and chasten. God uses
crisis to lead us. A crisis will get
our attention and should cause
us to turn to him. If we are going through a crisis, it is
because
God loves us.
A crisis will come to all soon. It will be decision time for all.
If we are open to God’s
leading now, we will be prepared then.
If we intend to lean on Him in the time of trouble, we ought
to practice leaning on Him
now.
